What Is HQ-LQ?
As you browse our site you will at times find videos referenced with HQ/LQ. This means that particular video is available in two formats.
It stands for High Quality and Lower Quality, but that does not refer to the video quality, it means your connection quality.
HQ is a full screen high bit rate stream, and should be used if you have a fast internet connection. For techy people HQs are either 1MB/sec or 768KB/sec and full native screen size, PAL or NTSC
LQ is half the native screen size and is a lower bit rate-for slower connections. They are streamed at 256KB/sec OR 64KB/sec. The streaming server will select which of those bitrates to serve you, depending on the quality of your connection.
You should experiment with this. Both are excellent quality. It's your choice and soon you will learn which is best and fastest for you.
NOTE!! You can easily change the screen size of Real Player by hovering over the upper left corner of the screen. A bar will appear with 1x 2x on it. We recommend you use 1x, especially for the LQ videos. HQs will look good at 2x but will be best at 1x.
Thank you for your patronage and taking the time to read this. |
